Which may include: Service and maintain control valves, hydrants, blow-offs; flush and maintain fire hydrants; exercise all valves both manually and machine operator; read as-builts and interpret blueprints to revise and maintain water atlases; maintain preventive maintenance database; provide miscellaneous support to other Operation and Maintenance groups regarding shutdowns, traffic control, repair and construction crew assistance. The Utility Technician will have the ability to flex into and \/ or perform work in the capacity of Field Service Representative when required or directed. Will be required to participate in the standby program as a primary responder.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Principales fonctions\/responsabilit\u00e9s : <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Install new or replacement water distribution system mains, services and fire hydrants with appurtenances.<\/li>\n<li>Repair, maintain and\/or operate water distribution facilities and associated equipment ie. mains, services, fire hydrants, valves, air compressors with related tools, tapping machines, portable ditch pumps and electrical generators, pipe leak detection equipment, hand tools, etc. without direct supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to read, understand and implement valve maintenance program.<\/li>\n<li>Use accepted practices and methods of water line and appurtenances installation or replacement and their proper maintenance and repair.<\/li>\n<li>Proper use and care of hand tools, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Functions of a Field Service Representative as required.<\/li>\n<li>Know and abide by company safety policies and procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Formation\/exp\u00e9rience\/ant\u00e9c\u00e9dents : <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Un dipl\u00f4me de fin d'\u00e9tudes secondaires est exig\u00e9.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Connaissances\/comp\u00e9tences\/aptitudes : <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Operation and use of a variety of power-driven and heavy construction tools and equipment in performing skilled construction, maintenance, and repair work, including operation of specialized trucks.<\/li>\n<li>Use and principles of computerized electronic equipment in the collection, storage, and interpretation of water system operational data.<\/li>\n<li>Methods and techniques used in locating water mains and turning off water service.<\/li>\n<li>Methods and techniques used in the maintenance and repair of water distribution systems.<\/li>\n<li>Operational characteristics of a variety of maintenance equipment, tools, and vehicles.<\/li>\n<li>Principles and procedures of record keeping.<\/li>\n<li>Safe work practices, including safety procedures for operating power and heavy construction equipment, working in traffic, confined spaces, open trenches and other hazardous conditions.<\/li>\n<li>Il doit \u00eatre capable de comprendre des instructions orales et \u00e9crites et de communiquer en anglais, tant \u00e0 l'oral qu'\u00e0 l'\u00e9crit.<\/li>\n<li>Must be eligible for overtime.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work independently and in a team environment.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to night, weekend, holiday and overtime work as needed, including on-call assignments.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to perform tasks with minimum of supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Understand and carry out oral and written directions in order to accomplish assigned tasks in a timely manner.<\/li>\n<li>Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Certification\/licences\/formation requises : <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Possession of a valid NJ driver&#8217;s license.<\/li>\n<li>Possess a Class &#8220;A&#8221; Commercial Driver&#8217;s License driver&#8217;s license or acquire within four months valid in the State of New Jersey.<\/li>\n<li>Employees employed within the T&#038;D Department must obtain a NJ State<br \/> commercial learner&#8217;s permit (CLP) and a Medical Examiner&#8217;s Certificate within thirty (30) days period of hire date.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Exigences physiques :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a field environment: walking including uneven terrain; climbing hills and stairs stand, and sit for prolonged periods of time: to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, reach, twist, grasp, and make repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to lift, carry, push and\/or pull moderate amounts of weight up to 90 pounds on a frequent basis.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to see clearly and hear.
