Job Description
Pay Rate: $110000 per year.

Position Purpose:
The Wastewater Plant Superintendent is responsible for the operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facilities, sanitary collections system and five sewer pump stations. This includes staffing, budget management, monitoring and reporting performance and efficiency measures, and ensuring regulatory and safety compliance.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and schedule a variety of maintenance, installation and repair projects for the wastewater system in the VEOLIA Water Princeton Meadows Operations
- Assign work crews to specific jobs based on job requirements and work force ability.
- Supervise and inspect maintenance, repair and installation work to be completed in the wastewater system of the VEOLIA Water Princeton Meadows Operations.
- Manage Preventative and Corrective Maintenance programs. Review work orders and complete by determining manpower and materials required utilizing computerized Workforce Management Program (KloudGin), (assign work orders>dispatch>close).
- Assign work orders for issues discovered upon physical inspection and/or due to complaints received directly via customer call center.
- Order materials and equipment needed to perform installation and repair projects. Prepare Requisitions for contractor projects, materials, chemicals. Track completed work in computerized tracking system (PeopleSoft, Perspective Content).
- Periodically inspect work in progress by private contractors to verify quality of work, safe work practices and ensure they stay within budget.
- Partner with the Engineering Department in the prioritization of Capital Projects and New Business activities.
- Partner with the Environmental, Health, Safety and Security Department (EHSS) to conduct periodic safety and training programs.
- Monitor safety of crews at work sites.
- Prepare reports as required by VEOLIA and all regulatory agencies.
- Assure wastewater treatment plant and sanitary collection system adhere to NJPDES Discharge Permit requirements. Assure regulatory reports (DMR’s, WCR’s, Other facility permits) are prepared and submitted timely to associated regulatory agencies.
- Must have laboratory sampling and analysis expertise to hold the position of Lab Manager and Quality Control Officer for the Veolia Water Princeton Meadows certified laboratory. Submits required certification forms to NJDEP to maintain the on-site certified laboratory. The laboratory is certified in Analyze Immediately parameters. Maintains required Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for laboratory procedures.
- Prepare and implement the department’s operational scheduling and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
- Monitor and ensure staff Timesheets are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
- Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Ability to respond to emergency calls and work extended hours as needed. (the incumbent must be member of VEOLIA Water Princeton Meadows Operations emergency callout rotation)
- Employee must demonstrate safe work practices, take part in safety meetings, and advises Management of any non-conforming conditions.
- Sets the tone for safety and housekeeping.
- Participates in cross-functional teams.
- Perform other projects / tasks/ duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- AS/BS degree in related field and/or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive knowledge of the physical, chemical, and biological aspects of the treatment and transportation of water/wastewater
- Extensive knowledge of federal and state rules and regulations relating to the treatment and discharge of wastewater
- Proficient in Google.
- Ability to read, review, and interpret construction plans and specifications and operate a computerized plant SCADA system.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- NJDEP Operators Certification S3 and C3 is required.
- Valid driver’s license is required.
