Position Purpose:

The Systems Services Manager leads the team responsible for all system services for Veolia in North America. They are responsible for the design, implementation, management, support, and continual improvement of Windows Servers, Linux Servers, DNS, DHCP, Storage, Active Directory, Virtualization, Backup, Restoration, Cloud environments, and related services. The manager will ensure the members work as a cohesive team, setting and meeting project goals, and managing overall system availability.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Team leader with deep technical experience in system design, system operations, alert management, and monitoring, and related services.
  • Responsible for the management of a team of engineers, providing performance reviews, continual feedback, goals, coaching, and career development.
  • Oversee the creation of system standards, policies, procedures, and configurations.
  • Follows and incorporates the ITIL methodology.
  • Collaborate with security team to implement highly secure solutions in an enterprise environment.
  • Select best in class tools for system performance, management, and support.
  • Be final decisive voice when decisions need to be made within the team.
  • Escalation point of contact for all major system issues.
  • Ensure all Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) are completed accurately and timely.
  • Manage and partner with managed service providers.
  • Participates in change control committee, providing input into all changes/additions to the system environment to ensure minimal disruption to production.
  • Resolves any scheduled maintenance or major outage issues escalated from direct reports.
  • Awareness of and compliance with Veolia safety practices.
  • Interfaces with the Group in Paris to align with global standards.
  • Stays up to date with the latest systems and cloud technologies, trends, and best practices.
  • Eager and willing to move on from current as new and better technologies emerge.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of System Engineering work experience with a minimum of 5 years of direct management experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Technical knowledge of system solutions including server, virtualization, backup, recovery, and cloud.
  • Windows, Linux, Vmware, Citrix, AWS, and GCP experience preferred.
  • Experience weighing costs, developing business cases, defining short and long term strategies.
  • Strong vendor management experience requiredAbility to build a strong, cohesive and collaborative team.
  • Must have strong customer service and ability to speak with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to develop the strategic direction and vision for the enterprise.
  • Exceptional communication and motivational skills.
  • Budget forecast and reporting experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with high priorities.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • AWS, GCP, Windows, and Linux certifications and training preferred.
  • Management training
  • ITIL Certified
